I recently returned from Imaging USA 2013 in Atlanta. This is the annual convention organized by The Professional Photographers of America (PPA). I have been a member of PPA for many years.
Conventions and other educational programs are important for photographers. They help to keep their skill and knowledge levels high, the expose the photographer to new products and services, and they give us a chance to socialize in a noncompetitive environment. This year I met some great people from all over the world, and talked at length about Senior portraiture and Wedding Photography.
This year, I both attended and volunteered. As a PPA volunteer, I helped with the many courses offered at the convention. There were several large courses offered at the same time, and I worked at seven of them. The bonus was that I got to see those seven classes, and many more when I was “off the clock”.
For my volunteer effort, I earned a Service Merit toward my next level of Certification, Photographic Craftsman. It will take me a couple of years to earn all of the service and Speaking merits to achieve this level, but the journey will be worth it.
I am very proud of my friend Stephanie Cunningham, who has finished the requirements for her Craftsman degree. Next year in Arizona at the Imaging USA event, she’ll have a chance to cross the stage and receive her medallion!
Christine and Matt had a lovely September day for their outdoor wedding at Peek ‘N Peak resort in western New York. Here are some “getting ready” images:
A short outdoor ceremony followed:
We stayed on the resort property for some great outdoor images:
A great, fun reception followed!
Congratulations Matt and Christine!
Another lovely August day dawned for Courtney and Jeff’s wedding. Here are some early images of Courtney and her ladies, and the gentlemen getting ready:
A lovely ceremony followed in the Penn State Behrend Chapel:
Next, we moved outdoors for some interesting images:
You can see that we can capture images in shade and the brightest of sunny days!
A wonderful cake table was just a small part of the great decor at their Capers reception.
A lovely evening, but some of the girls were tired out!
August 4th was a great day for Shanna and David’s wedding. Although it was a bit warm and humid, the rain stayed away and we had some great images to capture.
Toby, my second photographer, was on hand to capture multiple angles of the wedding experience.
The bride and groom had a sneaker thing going on. Here are Shanna’s wedding shoes – color coordinated to the attendant’s colors of course!
A lovely ceremony at Blessed Sacrament was followed by outdoor portraits in several locations.
The reception was at the Siebenbuerger club in Erie. A packed crowd was ready to rock and roll!
Wonderful wedding, guys! Thanks for letting us be part of your day!
Carlye and Brian had a wonderful small wedding in the country at Carlye’s parents’ amazing house. Though the weather was a bit cloudy (and perfect for photography), there was no rain to be seen.
Calye was stunning in her dress and veil. Jasmine sweetened the air. The ceremony was unique and happy. Exchanging personal vows, the bride and groom shared wine from a flask filled by their mothers.
We captured some great formal images before a wonderful dinner, catered by Johnny B’s restaurant in North East, PA.
Congratulations Carlye and Brian!
The 2012 Erie Lion’s Club 2012 Save an Eye game was held on July 27th at Erie’s Veteran’s Memorial Stadium. Perfect weather and a great crowd showed up to support the City and County All-Stars in a well balanced match.
Tied at 13 at the end of regulation time, the two teams battled it out in OT. County’s first try netted them a touchdown and extra point. City responded with a TD and a successful 2 point conversion to win in one of the closest contests in SAE history.
Compliments to both teams for their sportsmanship, to the coaches for their time and talent, and especially the officials, for their excellent work on the field.
